Literally. Never thought it could happen but it did on Saturday morning.
Of the six days a year it rains in Southern California, the sky decided it was time to turn on mother nature’s sprinklers for my first parade appearance, which was canceled five minutes before show time! It was raining cats and dogs all day, (how’s that for another cliche?) so it was probably the safest decision they could make with all the electrical equipment and stuff.
On the upside, I met Weird Al Yankovic.
He was scheduled to appear with the 501st Legion, an international club of Star Wars fans dedicated to recreating costumes from the movie and spreading their appreciation around the world.
So gosh darn it, going against my self-imposed work rule, I had my photo taken with him because I think he’s awesome and Star Wars is one of my FAVORITE movies ever! It’s like putting together cookie dough and ice cream, a really good combination!
He was totally nice about it. After I introduced myself as a reporter from the local paper he offered to start a mini-parade in the parking lot.
Couldn’t help but notice his awesome hoodie too.
So totally bad ass right? I found it online – totally sold out everywhere. It’s part of Marc Ecko’s Star Wars collection. Still available for the Star Wars nerd in your life are the Boba Fett, Imperial Storm Trooper, and Darth Vader hoodies.
