Summer Essentials

July 1st, 2010 · No Comments · fashion

With summer officially here, thought I’d share with you some absolute essentials that I bring with me whether I’m heading to the beach, a brief weekend getaway or that big summer vacation.

Linen Panama Hat, H&M, $12

It’s light, easy to wear and versatile. What more can you ask of a hat? Picked this one up from the men’s section at H&M because I wasn’t too keen on any of the women’s styles. Bought it one size larger, a medium, so that it has more of a relaxed fit. I took it on a recent vacation with the family, which proved to be a no fuss accessory that can take a summer outfit from cool to cooler in an instant.

Chuck sunglasses, Salt, $340.

I used to lose sunglasses like bobby pins, but now that I’ve found a pair that I love more than any other I have ever owned, there’s a reason for me to make sure I cling to these with passion. I love how they complement my face and the polarized lenses keeps out the glare. I bought them at a sample sale a year ago for $40 only to realize that after some research I saved $300. OMG, steal!

Stripped scarf, H&M.

Whether you’re near the beach, boarding a plane, or heading to a campsite, a lightweight scarf is great way to keep warm without feeling overheated. You never can tell if the airplane will be too cold or a cool breeze will hit once the sun goes down.

Single Layer Narrow, Rainbow Sandals, $45.95

It must be a Southern California thing because it seems that very few people have ever heard of Rainbow sandals, except for the ones who have been to California. These sandals might not look like much (like the ugly Uggs), but they are super comfy. With frequent wear, they mold to fit your feet. They have practically made most of the shoes in my closet obsolete.

Nail Polish, OPI. $7.65

Don’t even think about leaving the house in your newly acquired sandals of the season without a pedicure. I love that summer is a great time to use bright colors, my favorite, a fun shade of red. My color of the season is OPI’s “Red My Fortune Cookie” from their Hong Kong Collection.

Tell me: Have I left anything out? What are your essentials?
