The Shopping Diet

How often have you spent at least 15 minutes staring into your closet wondering what to wear for the day? I’m totally guilty of it. How about this: Could you narrow down your wardrobe to six items or less?

Recently the New York Times published a feature following a group of people on a self-imposed shopping diet. For some, their motive was to trim back on spending and for others it was a concern that mass consumerism is damaging the environment. At the end of the diet many of them had provocative thoughts on what happens when one doesn’t spend time thinking about what to wear.

Definitely an interesting read. Not sure if I could do it. Could you?

    I don’t think I could do it, but I often have thoughts of really decreasing my wardrobe to multifunctional pieces that I really adore. I get so tired of buying/storing items that I really don’t love…I’m trying to be choosier when I shop so at least I don’t waste space (or money)!

    Interesting concept. I would do it for maybe 2 months max.
