Snapshots From Manhattan

April 18th, 2011 · No Comments · travel

A few weeks ago I packed my pea coat and  favorite scarf for a quick work trip to NYC. Flew in on a Sunday afternoon, had a full work day of training on Monday then jumped back on to the plane Tuesday afternoon. In between I managed to squeeze in some yummy eats and a bit of shopping.

{The view and some sweet treats and a note from Dave}

Every time I find a note tucked into my bag from Dave with one of his cute doodles I just have to keep it. He spends most of the work day animating so when he comes home, the arm needs to rest. I love it when he draws for me!

Sunday night we headed to Bianca in NoHo. I stumbled upon this gem with its cozy country house decor and fantastic Italian menu the last time I was in NYC. It seems to be always full of locals. The tagliolini ai frutti di mare plate along with their tiramisu (the best I’ve had outside of Italy) happen to be my favorites. The lighting was so dim and we literally were two inches away from the next table, which made it difficult to squeeze in a quick photo!

Monday night I went with some fellow editors to Jane. A coworker had convinced us this was worth a second night of Italian food because the fried gnocchi was noted on the Food Network. It was nothing short of amazing with it’s creamy sauce and slightly crisp shell. We also shared a plate of prosciutto-wrapped asparagus topped with an over-easy egg. An unusual combination for me that will have to be added to my list of recipes to try.

{See that tiny speck on the sidewalk? That’s me!}

{The world’s largest Forever 21 at 9 a.m. It was well-organized and empty.}

Naturally, I couldn’t help but pay a visit to the Forever21 in Times Square. I love this place for its cheap thrills and I’m a fan of the silk blouses in the Love 21 collection. I had to be at the airport in the early afternoon so I made it a point to shop as soon as doors opened.

{Hello Chrysler building!}

{Quick visit to Kat’z Deli for some bagels to bring home for the parents}

I was pleasantly surprised to find Katz’s Deli just around the corner from my hotel. I was aiming to drop by Ess-a-Bagel – it was my dad’s one wish  so I had to deliver – but it was all the way across town. It made my morning, so I popped in and grabbed a few.
