My husband’s sole request for his birthday was a simple one: sugar cookies.
They aren’t the prettiest looking dinosaur cookies, but I’m so excited that they were successfully assembled over the weekend so I had to share.
I thought I would spice it up with some dinosaur cutouts, but in my search, I found something better, these 3D dinosaur cookie cutters! They wowed our dinner guests and most importantly, the birthday boy.
I used Alton Brown’s sugar cookie recipe. Not only were they pretty, they were pretty tasty!
Some tips:
- There’s no need to make two dozen, each dinosaur has at least three pieces. People will want to share.
- If you’re trying to dye the batter, add lots of color. The green faded after baking.
- Wait til the cookies have cooled to assemble. In my excitement, I tried to do this while they were still slightly warm. And of course, it crumbled.
- To prevent cookies from spreading in the oven, chill the cut outs in the fridge for 10 minutes before baking.
Now I just need another reason to whip up another batch….
